Auburn store evacuated after a car battery explodes

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Shoppers at an Auburn Big Lots store were in for a scare on Thursday afternoon after the store was evacuated and haz-mat teams showed up.

According to Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson, a car battery charging inside the Big Lots location on Opelika Road exploded this afternoon.

The store did have to be evacuated for a short period of time while the explosion was cleaned up. The store is now back open.

Chief Dawson says nobody was hurt.

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 3, 2012 – Over the course of a lifetime, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, making it one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women. In support of Women’s Health Month and to contribute to the fight against this disease, Sam’s Club is offering free women’s health and vision screenings Saturday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at all Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy, open to members and non-members alike.

'The Brickyard' coming to Phenix City

'The Brickyard' coming to Phenix City

On Friday September 22, 2012, NLP Properties, LLC completed the purchase and closed on the 90 acres that is known as The Brickyard project.  This now completes the zoning as approved by the City of Phenix City. (Master Plan attached)

The Brickyard will serve as a hub for the tremendous opportunities being created in the area. This project represents the future of growth here in Phenix City and the entire surrounding area. New businesses will create new employment with both construction and permanent jobs.
