AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Attorneys for Desmonte Leonard and Jeremy Thomas attended hearing in a Lee County courtroom today.
Attorneys for alleged Auburn shooter, Desmonte Leonard, requested Leonard be granted bond. Judge Jacob Walker told the court he would consider written motions by both the defense and the prosecution before ruling on bond for Leonard. The defense has seven days to submit an affidavit, the state has seven days to respond.
The next status conference for Leonard will be set for the beginning of next year. At this point, an official trial date cannot be set - attorneys are still waiting on results from forensic evidence.
Leonard has been indicted on one count of capital murder - two or more persons, two counts of attempted murder, one count of assault first degree and two counts of assault second degree.
Court documents also show that the state opted to drop the pending charge against Jeremy Thomas. Judge Walker orally granted the motion to dismiss.
Thomas, along with one other man, was charged with hindering prosecution. Law Enforcement said Thomas left the scene of the shooting with Leonard.
