Teenager arrested in connection with Auburn Wal-Mart arson | Crime
AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fire intentionally set at the Auburn Wal-Mart on South College Street over the weekend.
The 16-year-old from LaFayette, Alabama cannot be identified due to the fact that he is a juvenile. He was arrested by the Auburn Police Division and charged with Arson 2nd Degree which is a Class B Felony offense.
The juvenile was transported to the Lee County Youth Development Center where he is being held.
A second person being identified only as a 19-year-old LaFayette man is not expected to be charged.
Authorities responded to the report of a fire at the Wal-Mart located in the 1700 block of South College Street. Fire fighters were able to put out the blaze inside the business quickly, but not before it filled the building with heavy smoke. No injuries were reported.
The store was evacuated and closed for several hours.
