Lee County man crushed in dump truck malfunction

At approximately 4:20 PM Monday night December 31, Lee County authorities received a 911 call to a man down at a Lee Road 315 construction site in Smiths Station. Upon arrival by Lee County deputies and EAMC EMS, they discovered 29 year old Legary Antley Jr., of Smiths Station, with no signs of life. Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson pronounced Antley dead at the scene. It is believed that Antley was working on a dump truck in the raised position. At some point the hydraulics failed and the dump body fell crushing Antley between the body and the truck frame. Antley was suffered massive crushing chest injuries and was killed instantly.  No alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident. The case remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s office and the Lee County Sheriff’s office.
